Thrilled to be directing James Whitbourn’s terrific Annelies again, on Saturday 27 January, with Chelmsford Singers and five wonderful soloists. Music by Distler & Messiaen also features, and we’re pleased to be presenting the concert in association with uniessexonline - do join us.
Join George and the gang on CCR Online & 104.4FM from 8am. As ever a packed show promised plus Chelmsford Singers conductor James is on the phone to talk about their Holocaust Memorial Concert.
We were sorry to hear of the death of James Whitbourn, a composer whom we had the chance to work with and hear from when we first performed ‘Annelies’ in 2015 - we value the time spent with living composers and James gave a wonderful insight into this important work.
Just two weeks to go until our #CharlesStanford100 concert Chelmsford Cathedral! Sunday 17 November @ 7pm featuring: Bible Songs & Hymns; For lo, I raise up; Elegiac Ode (text by Walt Whitman); Three Motets; and some of Stanford’s rarely-heard piano preludes. Join us for a great evening!
We were thrilled to be part of Chelmsford City Council Mayor's carol service Chelmsford Cathedral last night. The young dancers from Essex Dance Theatre were fantastic & it was really moving to share a number: we sang There Is No Rose as they danced beautifully through the Cathedral. What a treat!
Our next concert takes place in the beautiful town of Maldon and features music on the light side, with a nod to the #VEDay80 commemorations, and featuring superb musicians alongside the choir and James Davy - do join us: details are below!
Really looking forward to our next Chelmsford Singers concert on Saturday 5 July: music by Bob Chilcott Noel Coward, me, Irving Berlin and George Shearing. Amazing musicians joining us for a lovely evening with some seriously good tunes at Maldon URC - be there for a 7 pm start.
We're back to rehearsals tomorrow evening with music by Vivaldi (Gloria) & Joanna Forbes L'Estrange (A Season to Sing) & really looking forward to getting stuck into both. Concerts always seem so far away at the start of rehearsals, but they soon come round! Why not come & try us out?
