First month on the job and the newly appointed FDA commissioner Dr. Martin Makary, or Dr Mockery as I shall now call him, is spreading easily disproven lies about Teen vaping Teen vaping is at its lowest in over a decade Teen vaping is down 70% in the past 5 years Teen smoking is

W Dr. Martin Makary Not doctors. Annual surveys given anonymously to tens of thousands of students. What you seem to be saying saying is: - Teens were honest in 2018-2019 when youth vaping was high, but not today? - Every survey of youth behavior ever should be thrown out because youth lie?

Smoking in South Korea is on the decline: adult smoking dropped from 27.1% in 2011 to 19.3% in 2021, and cigarette demand fell 45.6% since 2010. E-cigarette use in 2021 stood at 3.2%. Learn more from our Tobacco and Health Around the World pages globalactiontoendsmoking.org/research/tobac…

Reid Nuttall DOGE FDA Secretary Kennedy FDA Tobacco Such a good point. Open systems are the vaping product with the lowest youth usage rates. But FDA Tobacco didn't approve even one tobacco flavored e-liquid for an open system but had no problem approving tobacco flavors in devices made by Big Tobacco companies.

Evidence supports the fact that e-cigarettes can help people stop smoking; however, many older smokers incorrectly perceive e-cigarettes as equally or more harmful than combustible cigarettes. This can make them less likely to use e-cigarettes during a quit attempt.

FDA Commissioner is #FactCheck-ed FALSE by his own CDC/FDA National Youth Tobacco Survey data. Whoever briefed him should never be allowed through his office door again. If they're FDA staff they should be fired. But my suspicion is they're Bloomberg Philanthropies grantees.

Much "evidence" for nicotine vapor "harm" comes from studies like these: MICE given "whole body exposure" Mice that lick their own fur Mice that weigh only 30 grams (~1 ounce) Mice that breath 200x/minute when stressed... (which they ARE when caged and blasted with vapor)

Robbbb Dr. Martin Makary Dr. Martin Makary No studies or surveys show U.S. high schools with over 50% vaping rates. The 2024 National Youth Tobacco Survey reports 7.8% of high school students used e-cigarettes in the past 30 days, down from 10% in 2023. Even high-vaping states like West Virginia don't reach

HerniaHerney Dr. Martin Makary With the possible exception of some rural school with 7 students, there is no high school in America in which half of students are vaping. There is also decades of research on how youth overestimate the number of their peers using substances. The FDA Comm. should know this!

CASAA has issued a call to action for Texas bill SB 2024. A hearing is being held *today* at noon central time. If I'm reading this bill correctly, it would ban ALL Chinese-made vape products, including open-system/refillable products. casaa.org/call-to-action…

Approximately three million ex-smokers in the UK have made the switch from cigarettes to vapes over the past few years, and around 30% of them prefer to use disposable products. Nevertheless, on June 1st, it will be illegal to buy or sell disposable vapes in the UK. 🧵

Teen nicotine vaping has dropped 70% while legal adult vaping increased 85%. If e-cigarettes were "designed to get kids addicted," they failed to achieve that goal. "They target kids" is a standard prohibitionist tactic that can be traced all the way back to Reefer Madness.
