Maintaining a positive attitude at work does not mean you’re in denial about how bleak the reality of the situation may be. It means you’re choosing to focus on your potential for making a difference, rather than dwelling on the circumstances that you can’t control.

Kids appreciate it when you smile at them. They also appreciate you talking to them like a normal person. It doesn’t take much to build a connection. But you gotta like β€˜em.

Classroom management is best achieved with relationships and community, not compliance. It works with a smile, not a scowl. It works with curiosity, not fear. It works with teachable moments, not punishment.

Kids sometimes make poor choices (just like adults). Keep in mind though, it’s the conversations we have with them and not just the consequences that make these poor choices learning opportunities.
