Crialesi-Esposito et al. explore how small droplets form in turbulent flows. Using high-resolution simulations, they find that the breakup of larger droplets drives internal dynamics, with high vorticity and dissipation being consequences, not causes. go.aps.org/3WmI8Bz

Controlling the forces needed to move around is pretty complicated for soft-bodied organisms. Researchers have implemented a new technique for measuring these crawling forces with nanonewton precision in fruit fly larvae. elifesciences.org/articles/87746…

Being asked to referee an article that is similar to your work and interests, from a journal that rejected your paper on a very similar topic using similar analysis on comparable data...is frustrating. My take away is that what makes it past editors has a strong random element.

It is a fascinating experience that when you referee a paper you get to see everyone else's referee comments. some Refs will suggest "accept as written" to papers that are riddled with minor and major issues. Happens in high and low impact journals...

Our new study shows that SARS-CoV-2 spike protein accumulates & persists in the body for years after infection, especially in the skull-meninges-brain axis, potentially driving long COVID. mRNA vaccines help but cannot stop it🔬🧠🦠🧵👇Cell Host & Microbe cell.com/cell-host-micr…
