I ventured into the new world of RNA at Jörg Vogel with great support from Claudia Höbartner Lars Barquist Jakob Jung & the other co-authors! Preprint: A side-by-side comparison of peptide-delivered antisense antibiotics employing different nucleotide mimics biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

What will be the best modality for programmable RNA antibiotics? In our new work, we’ve compared half a dozen RNA, DNA and analogous molecules, looking at how good they are at suppressing an essential gene/mRNA in Salmonella. Encouraging results! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

I wish someone had told me what to expect when I embarked on a scientific career. May be this would help all the young scientists brimming with energy to choose wisely. Feel free to share. Opinions are mine. Feedback welcome! link.medium.com/uWKHrdbCJGb

🌟 NEW! We are super excited to announce our collaboration with Tinkle Magazine to bring you an inspiring series of comics featuring brilliant women scientists from our institute! 👩‍🔬 The first comic features Dr. Deepti Trivedi, who heads the Drosophila facility at NCBS.

We are organising a mini conference on the diverse applications of Antisense oligonucleotides to manipulate bacteria. Apart from a stellar line-up, Würzburg itself offers a beautiful setting. Spread the word and join us.

I am glad I can finally share this: Non-genetic mRNA silencing reveals essential genes in phage-host interplay. Enabled discovery of new important genes of Pseudomonas jumbo phage phiKZ. Also works for defense systems, clinical isolates. Read here: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Proud moment for me. My first mentee is starting his own lab. I will expect nothing but great discoveries and excellent scientists from his lab.

As someone who has closely observed the journey, I know how difficult it was to move from a med chem lab to a mol bio lab. But like always Paramita Sarkar has excelled. Check this preprint out, potentially it will solve the fundamental problem of bacterial ASO delivery.
