The bill Vice President Kamala Harris is referencing wld decimate our asylum system & wld cause great harm to many people, including those fleeing persecution and torture. It's not a solution for any problems along border or elsewhere

Immigrants are our neighbors, our friends, and our loved ones. We know the truth: from Springfield to San Diego, from Chicago to New York City, immigrants are welcome here. #Debate2024

Trump's plan for mass deportations will tear American families apart and devastate the U.S. economy. Voters overwhelmingly reject his cruel policy proposals. static1.squarespace.com/static/5b60b23…

True. The Biden administration's asylum shutdown rule violates our laws. That's why we're suing with ACLU National Immigrant Justice Center Texas Civil Rights Project. Title 42, Remain in Mexico, turnbacks... all of that was illegal, too.

Mass deportations will traumatize millions of American citizens. I know about this personally. My beautiful mother was taken by ICE in 2013 in front of me and my brother. She has 7 U.S born grandkids who have never forgotten that. I have never forgotten that moment. #Debate2024

Contrary to what the candidates and moderator are insinuating onstage tonight, banning asylum doesn't make the border secure. It doesn't make anyone safer. It only increases chaos and dysfunction, while putting vulnerable refugees in harm's way. x.com/humanrights1st…

Let's talk immigration to clear things up on #Debate2024 What would mass deportation mean for children in immigrant families? About 5.2 million children in the U.S. are at risk of being separated from a parent who is undocumented, and the vast majority are U.S.-born citizens.

Wouldn't it be beautiful to have a country that welcomes newcomers from all walks of life? We can't continue criminalizing the movement of people. The issues run deep and intersect across cascading variables, and our candidates must realistically address those issues. #Debate2024

Mass deportations in the U.S. would be **checks notes** REALLY BAD for the livelihoods of native-born workers and immigrants alike. (a thread 🧵) 🔗 Learn more at: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…

Haitians have been the target of intense discrimination in our immigrations system for decades. We cannot dismiss Tump’s conspiracy theories & lies about immigrants as jokes. This is the same playbook that took the lives of 23 Mexican-Americans & Mexican nationals in El Paso, TX.

Key takeaway from Marleine Bastien and me: We don't have to let this happen. We can "keep insisting on respect for truth & for our neighbors' humanity in the press and on social media, but more importantly in our churches, our schools, our neighborhoods and our families."

Children were sent home from school today due to bomb threats after their city was targeted by an anti-immigrant disinformation campaign. Xenophobic rhetoric & disinformation fuels real world violence & threats. Our leaders have a responsibility to condemn this bigotry.

Haitian immigrants have been the backbone of what makes this country great since the 18th century and will continue to be a vital part of this nation’s story. Guerline Jozef, Executive Director of the Haitian Bridge Alliance, calling out the hateful rhetoric on Democracy Now!

Painting immigrants as disease threats is a racist, xenophobic trope with a long and shameful history. It’s also used to justify policies that expel & bar immigrants, like the Title 42 policy & another Trump era rule. Both were debunked & condemned by public health experts.

Stereotypes fuel real harm. In the 1970s, the CDC falsely labeled Haitians HIV carriers, fueling anti-Black immigration policies. Today, politicians spread similar lies to dehumanize Haitians and incite fear. Watch our conversation on Haiti to learn more: bit.ly/3zz6CQE
