We should be bending our belief system to match the Bible. Not bending the Bible to match our belief system.

Surrender to God. Anything you think you need or want is an addiction of the flesh (ego, narcissism, appetite, etc). Resist and it will fade away over time and become insignificant. It will be replaced by a hunger for the things of God.
