In October FRU volunteer and trainee solicitor Tess represented her client at ET. Her preparation and advocacy won him £26k. Following non payment of the award Tess advised him how to enforce it through the High Court. He now has his £26k. #WeDoProBono #AccessToJustice #EmpLaw

Advice to younger barristers wanting to vary their diet, from a fan of doing as many different things as possible - taking cases for Advocate and Free Representation Unit (FRU) is not only enjoyable and worthwhile - it lets you do work you might not otherwise get into.

Amazing news - a huge well done to The Access to Justice Foundation for securing this funding and thanks to the National Lottery for recognizing the urgent need in the advice sector.

Still far too many employers with extensive gag clauses and rushed process, expecting advice to be provided in a matter of days and not accepting any amendments. Hopefully SRA's increased publicity and scrutiny will help to change ways.

Overcoming social inequalities requires a strong #LegalAid system. It's a leveller. A recent Women's Budget Group report finds that women are among those most impacted by cuts and continued underfunding. lght.ly/4o7n0i9

Temporary accommodation has become a normalised part of our housing system. Should it be normal for families to face social isolation and poor health? We're in this mess because of the UK's broken private rented sector and severe lack of social housing. lght.ly/5gfjpoe

Today, we are calling on the justice secretary Alex Chalk KC to urgently invest £11.3 million to stop #LegalAid from completely vanishing. This comes at a time when millions of people are struggling with debt, housing costs and the cost-of-living crisis. (1/8)

How have we got to this place? Many of the most vulnerable people in our society cannot get #LegalAid—not because they aren't eligible—but because there aren't enough providers left. Thanks, Public Law Project 🧡, for holding government neglect to account. lght.ly/3h470n
