You think if I start calling names and get in trouble, you all will come to my rescue? If you follow sports globally, info is shared and followed up with updates. Why should this be any different? Our athletes are requested often by these countries, ask our track clubs.

An athlete can register for the National Trials, that is not an indication of whether they have switched allegiance. The rule is that if they make the team, they will have to withdraw. They are restricted to compete at global & zonal meets representing the country until 2028.

Turkey, Bahrain, and Turks are the 3 known countries currently in dialogue with Jamaican athletes and clubs re: talent acquisition. Several athletes have chosen to wait until after Trials to see if they earn a spot before making any decisions about switching allegiance.

The younger generation of 🇯🇲 athletes seeing this happen just might think “Why not” switch too 💔 Going forward we’ve to fix up ourselves in all areas to minimize the exodus of this magnitude.

In track category, Turkey’s interest is primarily high-performing athletes. Those who are young to peak years, with strong potential to MEDAL or reach FINALS at championships. Which should make an interesting roster from our crop of talents.
