Hon. Jimmy Lukwiya the LC1 of Senior Quarters village opened Day one of the Media and Environment interns training 2024. He warmly welcomed the interns from Canada and Uganda and assured them of peace and security as they enjoyed their internship.

There was an open discussion about Gulu City Council and the interns' curiosity hung around politics, history and geography of Gulu. The LC1 used his 77 years of experience living and working in Gulu to elaborately answer all the questions.

Sunday, Joel and Geoffrey are in charge our security and they gave the interns guidance and helped them understand our Security Operating Procedures. The procedures included the aspects of personal and organization assets, emergencies, use of the facilities and outings.

The security team winded up their presentation with a practical security session. The interns were shown how to properly lock their room doors and were shown the fire assembly point in case of an emergency.

Moses and Innocent from United Youth Entertainment excited the interns when they dissected the camera to make photography and videography more realistic. The sessions started with the duo asking the learners to be open-minded and flexible to acquire new skills. MCI Media Hub

"Journalism is a service you offer to your community. It's beyond yourself. Good journalism must be based on facts and not blackmail." BENSON ONGOM He advised the young media personnel to look at the bigger picture of how they intend to help transform their community.

Our Finance department led by Margaret and Jacob shed light on the accountability and procurement processes. The session is very critical because the interns have projects with financial implications. The concern of E-invoices and E-receipts was also clarified to the interns.

We have some of our internship alumni on the premises today. The old ones are here to share with the current interns how the internship program has positively impacted their careers and lives generally.
