#OTD in 2017, a U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet shot down a Syrian Air Force Su-22 Fitter that was reportedly attacking Syrian Democratic Forces. It was the first time a U.S. warplane shot down a manned aircraft since a USAF F-16 downed a Yugoslav Air Force MiG-29 in 1999.
