"40 yrs ago when we did spotlighting surveys, the southern greater glider was the most common animal we’d see. Now, this amazing species is endangered. In many areas it is hard to find; in others it has been lost altogether" Prof David Lindenmayer writes. science.anu.edu.au/news-events/ne…

'Rogue' government logging agency... abc.net.au/news/2024-07-2… The law says Forestry Corporation must put a 50-metre exclusion zone around den trees, and not log within that zone. In Styx River state forest, Mr Daines [..] found nine of the 11 exclusion zones had been logged.

40km from Dorrigo, the Clouds Creek vigil has kept NSW Forestry Corporation out of an old growth forest protecting endangered inhabitants for an astounding 150 days. Please share and talk about this, maybe send a message to the appropriate ministers. More info ⬇️

The NSW Auditor General’s report into the Government’s management of threatened species has just dropped - and it’s another damning picture for our precious threatened species. 🧵 audit.nsw.gov.au/our-work/repor…

While the extinction crisis worsens NSW Labor has continued the trend of allocating less money to the environment each year. In 2022-23 a meagre 1.73% of the entire state budget was allocated to the environment - under the Minns Labor Government this has declined to just 1.61%!

Sue Higginson 🌳 (@suehigginson_) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Criminally, NSW Labor continues to charge full steam ahead with its state sanctioned extinction logging across our precious public native forest estate & propping up the money haemorrhaging rogue Forestry Corporation - pushing forest dependent threatened species to extinction.

Sue Higginson 🌳 (@suehigginson_) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Only 50% of NSWs current threatened species are expected to survive in the next 100 years. If we are to have any hope of turning this number around we must urgently end native forest logging and begin the proper funding of species and habitat restoration.

NSW Labor promised a Great Koala National Park and sent in the loggers. For 18 months they have been logging, the area they said they’d protect? Why? Because they now want carbon credits for not logging it. This is the accounting trickery of offsets! Carlos Manuel Rodriguez IUCN #auspol
