My view at Mattins this morning in the magnificent C13 chancel of St Mary, Stone, perhaps the finest in an all Kent. I joined the Rector, Lay Minister and Churchwarden, as we said the 1662 office on the First Sunday after Easter, rejoicing in the good news of our risen Lord.

Choral Evensong on the Second Sunday after Easter at St Nicholas, Chislehurst. In many ways back to an ordinary Sunday of churchgoing; but I can honestly say that the Spirit feels at work in this place. #GloryBeToTheFatherAndToTheSonAndToTheHolyGhost

The choir and congregation were in fine voice last night, but the highlight was undoubtedly the Rector's sermon. If you want sound preaching and no-nonsense liturgy, all within a perfectly proportioned Palladian church, then St Giles-in-the-Fields is the place to be.

One of the great days in the Kentish calendar, when the mother church welcomes members of the Provincial Grand Lodge & Chapter of West Kent to Choral Evensong, preceded by luncheon in the Corn Exchange. #YeChoirsOfNewJerusalemYourSweetestNotesEmploy

Got to see Annigoni’s first portrait of the late Queen in situ again last night. Our hosts, fittingly, were Italian. Just magnificent.

Some Sundays, attendance at divine service is done chiefly out of duty, but every single time I am restored by meeting together to render thanks, setting forth praise and hearing God’s word. My best piece of advice to anybody is to simply go to church every week. #ChoralMattins

Just happened upon a BCP Communion service in a side chapel of stmaryabbots. One of the (manifold) benefits of being a Prayer Book adherent is it enables me to slip straight into such a service and recite the prayers and responses from memory. #KensingtonChurch

A wreath was laid at the grave of Richard Penderel after morning service, followed by beating of the St Giles-in-the-Fields parish bounds. I’ve had to leave the party for refreshment, as they continue their procession through the backstreets of Fitzrovia. #OakAppleDay #RogationSunday

St Nicholas, Chislehurst celebrated the feast in style this evening with; ad orientem BCP Communion at the high altar; Hail the Day That Sees Him Rise sung to our eponymous tune; and the rector letting off fireworks in the churchyard. Something for everybody on Ascension Day.

Read the second lesson this morning at the Anglican Church of St George’s, Taormina, Sicily. The Revised English Hymnal was used acapella and local wine enjoyed after the service in the delightful churchyard. A more welcoming congregation you could not wish to meet.

So wonderful to see our prayer book services growing, so much so that we have added another Mattins services to our service list 🙏🏻 #Chislehurst The Prayer Book Society @SeeOfRochester
