Rally NYC Wednesday Noon City Hall! NYPD refused to name cops, release full video for 20 months. 'The fact that NYPD still hasn't turned over some of the files ... is outrageous,' Ellen Trawick, mother of Kawaski Trawick. Open all Police Archives on killing of !

This weekend, VOCAL-NY held a vigil in Albany to honor the life of Daniel Prude, a man killed by Rochester police four years ago.

People experiencing a crisis need mental health professionals to respond first - not police. We urge NYS to fund Daniel’s Law in the budget!

A few weeks ago at the FY25 preliminary budget hearing on public safety Gale A. Brewer asked on the record if they think should operate in the subway system. We think this could be a great opportunity to implement !

We are disappointed that New York City Council did not include anything about non-police mental health crisis response in its preliminary budget response.

Other cities have comprehensive public safety systems that can send specialized mental health responders to crisis situations on-demand. This is a proven model that NYC can replicate. I urge the City to implement best practices championed by CCITNYC to save lives.

If NYC has a homelessness problem, we should be investing in housing, homeless services, and lowering the cost of living. If we have a problem with mental illness or addiction, we should be investing in healthcare, not criminalization. We ALL want a safer NYC—not a police state.

'Here’s someone thinking he’s going to get help and feel better, and instead he’s killed within moments of the police arriving. There really aren’t words to describe it.” – Ruth Lowenkron,

Our official statement regarding the horrendous tragedy that ended Win Rozario’s young life. We can no longer militarize our responses to mental health crises.

Each detail is worse than the last. He was only 19, and HE called 911 in a moment of crisis, only for an officer to shoot him dead in front of his mother.

NYC needs a more serious investment in dedicated mental health crisis response like CCITNYC. Every day without, people die.

It was a pleasure planning and organizing this joint rally with CCITNYC & Mental Health Project . Our communities need resources to support them, so we must keep the pressure on the mayor to put mental health first and reverse the increase of beds in the Queens Borough jail!

Most New Yorkers agree on what's needed for people in mental health crisis—yet our leaders aren't acting on it. They're making people believe they're upset at things like bail reform when they're really upset we don't have the mental health system we need.
