Other cities have comprehensive public safety systems that can send specialized mental health responders to crisis situations on-demand. This is a proven model that NYC can replicate. I urge the City to implement best practices championed by CCITNYC to save lives.

If NYC has a homelessness problem, we should be investing in housing, homeless services, and lowering the cost of living. If we have a problem with mental illness or addiction, we should be investing in healthcare, not criminalization. We ALL want a safer NYC—not a police state.

NYC needs a more serious investment in dedicated mental health crisis response like CCITNYC. Every day without, people die.
