In case you missed it. The NYPD spent $150 Million *extra* last year to catch people who weren't able to afford to pay the subway fare. They owed just $104,000.
$150 million could buy free fares (at going rate) for 95,000 poor New Yorkers per year. hellgatenyc.com/the-nypd-spent…
Legislation is now in effect to require NYC Consumer and Worker Protection to create a workers' bill of rights with the federal, state, and local rights granted to all workers in the City, regardless of immigration status.

Speaking w/ CBS New York New York Daily News PIX11 News about the terrible conditions outside of St.
Brigid’s reticketing center. 1,000+ people in line again today to renew their 30 days in the shelter system. These folks are spending days standing in the cold. This is not a solution.
This is exactly why Julia Salazar, Catalina Cruz, Esq., Shahana Hanif 🦾, Steven Raga & I led a letter on Dec 21 to Mayor Adams to end his cruel 30- and 60-day shelter limit policy.
Still no response: and now children & families will be evicted from shelters in freezing temperatures.
I’m proud to call for a #CeasefireNOW with Office of New York City Comptroller Brad Lander Brad Lander and my New York City Council colleagues Alexa Avilés, Tiffany Cabán, Crystal Hudson, Jennifer Gutierrez, Sandy Nurse, Chi Ossé, Nantasha Williams, Lincoln Restler, and Carmen De La Rosa!🕊️

Food justice in our schools is the best way to start the new year.
A special thank you to Sultana Razia for her partnership with my office in getting this to the finish line. Congratulations PS 131!
Please, please read Jillian Jorgensen’s thread or watch her story.
Mayor Adams is about to implement one of the cruelest things NYC has done in generations.
The City is about to evict families from shelter in freezing temps. And displace kids from their schools.

We take one last look at lovely Lovecraft, who arrived 10 days ago unable to stand, off-balance and in a overall worrisome condition after a likely collision. We are so proud of our raptor team for bringing this beautiful hawk quite literally to her feet.
