Sad to hear of the passing of James Lovelock, creator of Gaia theory of ‘living’ Earth. What a contribution he made, particularly relevant given that his ideas were built on those of James Hutton’s theory of the Earth. Clear thinkers can be so rare and far apart in history.

Great to catch up and discuss ideas, particularly meaningful given that James Hutton was a founder of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. His innovative thinking and challenging of ideas changed how the world is viewed and serves as the inspiration for our approach to our work today

It was a pleasure to talk with Sir Mark Spencer from Defra UK who had a good understanding of the issues facing our potato sector as a result of climate change, pest and resilience. Looking forward to continuing the conversation.

Good to talk about the significant contribution #HuttonScience is making towards achieving national and international goals for the economy and environment with individuals who care about science in Scotland.

Colin Campbell (@ccampbellhutton) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Investment in our work is an investment for every person in the UK in continuing to secure our food chains of crops upon which whole industries depend. A great visit from Douglas Ross MSP to show how #Hutton science is working towards future proofing against climate change.

It was a pleasure for us at the James Hutton Institute to host Johan Rockström together with the Macaulay Development Trust and to listen to this global pioneer in climate change thinking. Important messages around the need for effective engagement and communication and the need to embed change.
