How do nutrients affect and productivity and link back to islands? First week on Fregate island done. What a stunning place to work! 🦅 🐢 Yadvinder Malhi is doing a great job keeping everyone posted so check out his beautiful pictures and videos of our work ❤️

I last dived Cousine Island in Seychelles in 2005 and 2011. The reefs were in a sorry state following the 1998 coral bleaching event. Incredible to see them again this week after the 2016 bleaching event - they are thriving. East and west sides of island 2005 & 2022

On the reefs the Lancaster Environment Centre & ExeterMarine teams are surveying corals & fish, mapping nutrient seascapes, running turf algal productivity experiments, & investigating secondary production, sediment budgets & endolith availability to parrotfish. It’s been busy! 1 Island to go…

Back on dry land after 5 fabulous days at sea, surveying around the inner Seychelles and stalking and to estimate their feeding rates🪸🐠🦔 L’Amitie (=friendship) taking the lead for favourite boat and crew ♥️ ExeterMarine ⛴ 🌏 Marine Science 🐠 🐟

We were starting a major science expedition on restoring biodiversity on islands & reefs but @virginatlantic failed to get our equipment from check-in to plane at Heathrow Airport. Waiting a week-nobody responding to calls/messages. virginatlantic will you save our science?
