In Tennessee I often meet progressives from Republican families who point to college as their awakening. But they say it isn’t the classes, It’s being around students from different backgrounds and learning the truth. Education is UN-indoctrination. That’s why they resent it.

I took on the NRA in 1994 and passed the assault weapons ban the last time. Mass shootings went down. But in 2004 when Congressional Republicans let the ban expire, mass shootings tripled. It’s time to ban assault weapons in this country.
