“We don’t need private [#earlyed] providers. We can accommodate this internally.” A brief thread 🧵 unpacking this quote from a concerned CO school district leader on the state’s plans for expanded #PreK: co.chalkbeat.org/2022/3/15/2297…

Texas policymakers must address the needs of the child care workforce. We encourage the #txlege to take further action on the #ECE infrastructure this coming session bit.ly/3w8IcbY

I want every mom in every part of Fort Worth to know we are here for her. We have to call this continual rise in the infant and maternal mortality rate what it is  -  a crisis. Together, we're changing that story for families: medium.com/@mayormattiepa…

The projected state budget surplus should include funding to support an increase in affordable quality childcare to help parents--especially women--successfully re-enter the job market. #WorkingForTexas #txlege

ICYMI: Fort Worth Report hosted an important community conversation about creating a child care system that is accessible for all. “The math doesn’t work. At its core, it’s unaffordable, inaccessible and it’s not working.”

Today the #txlege convenes for its 3rd special session, with a major focus on ed finance. Last session, important pre-k partnership bills such as HB 1614 & HB 2923 did not make it past the finish line. This October, we can't afford to let early ed in child care take a backseat!

City of Fort Worth is voting on Prop 2 tonight! The property tax exemption could save providers an average of $3,000/ year, a much needed break for child care centers delivering high-quality care to low-income children. We are hopeful for a positive outcome! bit.ly/3JZDvYD

Texas sorely lacks a high-qualified early educator workforce, but efforts to increase the amount of degree-holding early educators begs the question: how can we expect anyone to pursue an #ECE degree if the career projections are abysmal?
