The Risk-KAN Compound Events webinar series is pleased to feature two talks on (often-increasing) hydroclimatic risks next week: Dirk Eilander on compound-flood modeling, and Prof Cathryn Birch on tropical humid heat. Sep 12 at 14:00 UTC! For Zoom info, see risk-kan.org/news/
Not long now until the Risk-KAN Compound Events webinar on (often-increasing) hydroclimatic risks! Featuring: Dirk Eilander on compound-flood modeling, and Prof Cathryn Birch on African humid heat. Sep 12 at 14:00 UTC! For Zoom info, see risk-kan.org/news/
Important update if you work with wet-bulb temperature!! Thanks to a careful re-examination of common implementations of the Davies-Jones algorithm by Rob Warren (BOM), plus convos with Dr Cass Rogers (@cassro314.bsky.social) Dr. Jonathan R. Buzan and myself, several non-negligible coding errors have been found.
Join us this week for our next webinar! We are excited to host Charuni Pathmeswaran and Nina Ridder talking heatwaves and compound risks. The webinar will have an Australian focus and an Australian time, we hope you can make it wherever you are. Zoom link: columbiauniversity.zoom.us/j/98425017246?…
Another Risk KAN webinar is on the horizon! Dive deep into "Investigating the role of climate change and development on hurricane compound hazard across spatial scales" with Avantika Gori. Date: Thurs, Feb 29 Time: 15:00 UTC (16:00 CET/10:00 EST) 🔗 Zoom Link:
Excited to share our paper examining renewable energy 🌞potential during temperature extremes 🥶🥵 across the U.S with co-authors - James Doss-Gollin Dmitri Kalashnikov, Ph.D. Dr Cass Rogers (@cassro314.bsky.social) Ethan Coffel and Yianna Bekris. This week in Kolkata, sunny skies and temps of 40-42C; by July, low 30s and rain. How might this sort of dry/humid heat contrast change in a warming world (and why)? For answers, attend Ethan Coffel's Risk KAN: Compound Events webinar - Friday 4/26 at 2pm UTC! risk-kan.org/webinars
Looking forward to Ethan Coffel's webinar later today (26 April) on humid heat. Join us at 14:00 UTC (16:00 CEST/10:00 EDT). columbiauniversity.zoom.us/j/91331274026?…
It is that time of the year! Abstract submission for the 2024 AGU (American Geophysical Union)'s general assembly is open! Consider submitting an abstract to our session that brings together all things related to compound and multi-(hazard) risk: agu.confex.com/agu/agu24/prel… #AGU24 #CompoundRisk #MultiRisk
If you study #heatwaves, consider submitting an abstract to our #AGU24 session. Submissions close July 31. AGU (American Geophysical Union) agu.confex.com/agu/agu24/prel…
