I think one of the most valuable and challenging skill for new leaders is giving and recieving feedback. 🕰️ Making time for feedback 😬 Having the skills/courage to share openly ❓ Making clear requests 💖 Taking feedback well Thoughts?

Finding myself explaining this concept a lot with my exec coaching clients, so sharing here: Over-functioning is a common, invisible problem in teams, when someone covers up a dysfunctional environment by taking up disproportionate amount of responsibility. Esp. common for women

Resumes are the WORST!!! I don’t find them helpful as a hiring manager and I hate updating mine. I would do 20 interviews and a take home project but PLEASE don't make me submit a resume lol

Do remote workers even like virtual company happy hours? I’d rather give my team the hour or two off. Pointless meetings contribute to burnout and isn’t working together team-building enough?

I love this Main Quest / Side Quest analogy! I'm def on the Main Quest now, "winning" as CTO at a VC-backed startup. And I've often considered what's next.. TBH a Side Quest seems pretty fitting! I used to see it as a step down, but this perspective is much more validating!

It it normal for cafes to blare loud music? A friend of mine was just complaining about this, wondering if its a passive-aggressive way to prevent laptop campers. If so, its not very effective. Nearly everyone in here has a laptop and headphones. WHY SO LOUD???

Sitting on a blanket in a park with my laptop, using my phone as a hotspot, wondering how I can replicate this level of serenity in a more functional workspace. Currently nomadding and having trouble finding relaxing places to work. Cafes are noisy and libraries are cold!

spoke w/ a CTO yesterday & he shared an interview question he asks Engineering Manager candidates: "after being at this company for 3-5 years, what do you want to be known for?" 😍 gives insight into what their passionate about & what they aspire to! 🙌 what's your answer??

Just because you haven’t experienced successful Remote Work doesn’t mean it doesn’t work. Every interaction doesn’t have to be scheduled. You can create team agreements that allow for anything. This is a disappointing perspective from “tech leadership”.

I just added ‘Fractional CTO’ to my list of experiences on LinkedIn and I feel like I’m winning a silly but lucrative game.
