you're a woman because you're an adult human in a female body. You may choose to engage in cultural stereotypes and rituals of femininity but many choose not to and this doesn't make you a woman. Please stop acting like gender conformity is required to make us who we are.

we don't even when we *try* to understand and empathize it is simply not something you can "identify" into anymore than saying I was black would give me a real understanding of racism black people actually face.

I think this is true. Some people view our socialization as kind of a brainwashing taking innocent boys and turning them into evil psychopaths by default. I think it is more empowering those inclined to act on the bad impulses we may already possess. men need to be told "no"more

patriarchy socializes us to be abusive to women and misogynistic so I am unclear on your definition of "successful" here rejecting male socialization is good.

Michael Quinn (@cassandracmplex) 's Twitter Profile Photo

funny thing here is I think both would be misdirecting their own dysphoria in different ways. Men aren't oppressed as men though so I don't give a shit about "misandry" except that it is unhelpful

This is well said and I relate. I think reducing everything to chromosomes neglects our internal life. Our thoughts and dreams that really make us *who* not *what* we are. You can't be a woman but you can aspire to it

The absolute laziest way to make an argument is just to find the worst example possible of a group and let it go without saying that "most of them are like that" so much of this happens on many different issues. I'm sick of it.

The term "sex realists" is very troubling to me. They may not be bigots but they are adapting a term bigots use and seem far less bothered by that than being seen to be against hierarchical gender norms

Michael Quinn (@cassandracmplex) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Kind of telling on your own racism if you view "civilized" as a synonym for white. Ukrainians are far more civilized than Russians at least under Putin. So are for example Chinese and Botswanans

This'd be "sex identity". Symptoms would include distress at not being the sex one would prefer to be. Causal explanations would be sought. "Gender" refers to the normative social constructs of masculinity & femininity built by patriarchy to link behavioural expectations to sex.

Brighton and Hove Centre for empathic reparations Jessica Shepherd Dr. Jane Clare Jones The patriarchy sorts non compliant males into the woman category, yes. Why uphold this patriarchal grouping ? Why assume the needs of non compliant males should overshadow and steamroll the boundaries of females ? That’s also patriarchy.

Sorry but I support bodily autonomy for adults. We shouldn't be infanitilizing strangers and deciding what treatments they are allowed to a seek based on mental health or other groups the belong to.

If you wonder why " radical transgenderism" is winning in Canada it's because this kind of MRA anti-feminist reactionary nonsense is the only alternative offered to it. Our political system is fucked.

We can't know how he felt but the other side of this is that if Cobain did have issues with dysphoria and had been public about it many modern gender conservatives would immediately start calling him AGP and pervert and assuming the worst about him.

Michael Quinn (@cassandracmplex) 's Twitter Profile Photo

and if you try to point this out to them they will act like you're saying they can't be a man without being "toxic" It just shows men like this have never even unpacked what society expects of them

Patriarchy isn't just some sort of ambiguous presence that harms everyone, but inexplicably affects women more; it is an actual system of material exploitation whose purpose is the reification of women as property. Male privilege is birthright entitlement to status and labor.
