Just listened to this podcast, which featured an old voice from my UTEP days and which might be of interest to #nced or #tned English teachers: open.spotify.com/episode/4sUqvX… Warning: the resource they mention embraces CRT, but it needn't be the only lens applied in practical use.

Virginia, Tennessee, and Western Carolina have Byes this weekend, so not sure what my football watching will be! The Liberty/App State game might get canceled; so might the Miami game.

We're at a higher elevation than the rest of Boone, just north of downtown. and we've made out OK so far. Tons of leaves and branches down, and internet is out, but we have power and are on a spring box for water. Pray for those who were not as lucky as we were this time around.

Boone needs help, yes, but so do Vilas, Zionsville, Trade, Roan's Creek and other communities in WNC and EastTN you might not know exist. Same goes for communities around Asheville. On good-weather days, there are still 2 hours left of WNC once one passes Asheville. #Helene

Updates: Our internet is back. We did have some flooding in the basement and now appear to have some black mold and a leaky pipe down there. But, we've put in a maintenance request to let the rental agency know. Our landlord had the trees blocking our drive removed very quickly.

In other positive news, our local deer are starting to return, and the 3 wild turkeys that have adopted our yard were walking around it again today.
