Today in #journalclub we delved into the structure of the Flotillin complex. Fascinating insights into how this cage complex could induce membrane curvature and provide a sealed diffusion barrier, connecting membrane systems. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

In yesterday's #journalclub, we had a look at the interesting mechanism by which the UNC-104 motor (Kinesin-3 KIF1A homologue in C. elegans) is stabilised on Rab-3-containing synaptic vesicles - by Bhan and colleagues biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Excited to share our latest study! We discovered that maintaining mammalian oocytes involves extraordinary protein longevity. These proteins support key functions like proteostasis, the cytoskeleton, and mitochondria. Our findings offer new insights into reproductive aging.

My first PhD student, Emma Hanford (nee Gleave), made some cysteine-lite dynein constructs in 2013. 11 years later, thanks to MinFlux, Joseph Slivka and Ahmet Yildiz they have been used in a nice biorxiv paper. doi.org/10.1101/2024.0…

Excited to share our latest work with the bullock lab! We looked at how diverse mRNAs get selected for subcellular localization and it turns out that a single protein can recognize different RNA elements using shared features that weren’t apparent before. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
