#Aphasia isn't a barrier to driving 💜

#Aphasia goals changed over time.

The 1st goals were speech related, saying family & friend names etc

Later goals were #totalcommunication based using all strategies. Such as 1st time
💜ordering in a cafe
💜talking at a group
💜taking part in research
💜teaching others

Carly Davey 💜 Jan You are so right! Setting goals & celebrating them - big & small has really helped the both of us since G’s stroke a year ago. In the words of Edwyn Collins ‘Possibilities are Endless’ - something we frequently say on both the good & bad days.

Jan regularly sets a goal, it helps her to keep moving forward 💜

Day 14 of #StrokeAwarenessMonth 💜This old video(spot my old dog Bob🥹)sums up a top tip from Jan. Even if something takes longer, try & do it yourself. A reminder to carers that even if you want to jump in, sometimes it's most helpful to wait. I have zero choice in the matter!

Yes that's been our experience. In the years after #Stroke it was recognised by professionals mum was depressed but no appropriate support given. A Neuro Psychology referral was made but the practitioner had no #Aphasia knowledge, no ramps etc so it was just him talking at mum🫣

Thank you 💜 maybe there is a Podcast calling 🫣🤔💜😬😆

Blown away 💚❤️💜 I've been to the Arctic circle but the first time I see the #NorthernLights is in Hampshire 😆 they were visable with naked eye but night mode photos were amazing. Very cool 💜

It's great to see the first #Dysarthria AwarenessDay being promoted. The formation of clear speech due to weak muscles in the face & mouth is common after #stroke
