People dabbling in a new field are overconfident about their expertise: confidence increases faster than knowledge. We start to generate our own theories from the small sample of our experience, but those theories are too simple. As we learn more our confidence actually drops!

Russel Kirsch was the inventor of the pixel. He passed away only a couple of years ago. The 172 x 172 image of his son made in 1957 is the 1st digital images ever made. It's a photo that changed the world. His legacy lives on in the billions of photos we take and share each day.

Here’s a reason to think we can skirt recession next year – ample excess savings. This is the extra saving we did during the pandemic and are now drawing down to supplement our inflation ravaged purchasing power and continue spending. All income groups have excess saving left.

People in California and New York pay 20% of federal taxes and have 4 Senators. People in 21 states--AK ID UT MT WY ND SD NE KS OK IA MO AR LA MS AL TN KY IN WV SC--pay 15% of federal taxes and have 42 Senators. What's that old saying? Oh yeah, taxation without representation.

My new favorite thing - Bing's new ChatGPT bot argues with a user, gaslights them about the current year being 2022, says their phone might have a virus, and says "You have not been a good user" Why? Because the person asked where Avatar 2 is showing nearby

When you start a company, there's this illusion that at some point things will get easier. It never gets easier. You earn the right to solve problems with higher stakes. But it never gets easier. And if it starts to feel easy...you're probably missing something.

Yep we’re all gonna be totally fine. It’s totally fine. Nothing to see here. Nothing to worry about. No need to re-watch the Terminator movies.
