In a new article in Perspectives on Politics I propose an institution reform to make representative government less oligarchic: having elected politicians held accountable by randomly selected "Constituency Juries"

Stella, you offer a shockingly anti-feminist and anti-Black reading of history. Malcolm X didn't advocate for "violence against individuals", he advocated for self-defence. Malcolm & Martin both agreed that: "if violence is wrong at home, then it is wrong abroad".

This is not that complicated. The government was embarrassed by Palestine Action drawing attention to their complicity in genocide and proscribed them because of it. The only principle consistently at work here is the Labour Government's consistent refusal to take responsibility.

This is a terrible argument, why should anyone listen to you if the sum total of your thoughts on a subject is that minorities should be ignored completely as there's fewer of them

Marquis' paper isn't usually taught by itself because it's actually not very good, and only enjoys the ubiquity it does because the alternatives are even worse.

The problem with this line of attack from the Irish press is they're trying to present her as an unelectable out-of-touch leftie when the views she's expressed here are basically the same as those of the sitting president (who is also the most popular politician in the country)

Oh cool. A whole dissertation that has clearly been written mostly via AI. Enjoy paying loads of money to learn nothing, I guess...

#OtD 26 Aug 1921 workers in the mills and bakeries declared a soviet (aka: a workers' council) in Bruree, Ireland. A rare photograph features a sign workers affixed to one of the mills, reading "Bruree Soviet Workers Mills. We make bread not profits." stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/9804/t…
