Bristol Motor Speedway has proposed a plan to bring NASCAR racing to our neighborhood using only public funding. THIS IS A BAD DEAL. Bristol is not putting any money into this plan, relying on taxpayer funding.

Consider that the Titan’s deal took the Metro Council an entire year! Ask Mayor Cooper and the Metro Council to stop ramming the NASCAR deal through at the 11th hour!

Rev those engines, but NOT in Nashville! We're not signing up for a $100M headache with Bristol Motor Speedway. Time to hit the brakes, Sports Authority! Read more here: tennessean.com/story/opinion/…

Sports Authority members were just told over text they will not be taking up racetrack related issues at their meeting today. Racetrack plan deferred yet again. It's all but certain this will be for the next mayor to decide.

According to texts received by Sports Authority this morning, the racetrack item has been deferred. It will not be taken up at today's meeting. This means the project is extremely unlikely to be finished in this Council term. Our reporting last night ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Analysis: What a Mess! Mayor Cooper's Speedway Deal is a Total Disaster. Failed timing, lack of support, and procedural roadblocks have driven this proposal into the ground. Save us the drama and admit it's a lost cause already! tennesseelookout.com/2023/07/25/ana…

The construction of a 30,000-seat grandstand and track would require demolishing parts of our historic fairgrounds. This disregards the wishes of Nashville's residents who voted to protect this space.

This isn’t about politics – it's about what's right for OUR city! Democrats (72%), Republicans (59%), independents (57%) – we're all standing tall, united in our rejection!

We want to thank people from all across Metro for making their voices heard. The proposal did not fit the track and the finances did not work. We’re glad everyone involved now has a chance to evaluate what could work for this historic facility. tennessean.com/story/news/loc…
