The Little Bunting is still present at Mianes this morning - its fourth day. Poor numbers of small migrants however a few raptors are coming in, including a Pallid Harrier and the first Hobby of the year

A relatively slow day although a good variety of species were seen. A small number of raptors went through in the morning and there was an apparent arrival of Northern Wheatears and Woodchat Shrikes in the afternoon. Today’s counts are now viewable here: trektellen.org/count/view/338…

Looks like being another slow day for migration, numbers of grounded migrants even poorer than yesterday. The highlight so far a Stone-curlew on the beach by the mosaics.

Pallas’s Leaf Warbler - some photos of yesterday’s bird at Paliros (Cape Tenaro); we believe this is just the 5th Greek record. Photos chosen to show the key identification features Antikythera Bird Obs BirdGuides

Sadly no sign of the Pallas’s Leaf Warbler today. The day started slowly but from early afternoon it was clear that new birds were arriving; Collared Flycatchers were the dominant species & a total of 72 were counted. Also 2 Semi-collared Flycatchers were seen at Porto Kagio

Negative news on the Desert Warbler today. If it stayed the strong northeasterly winds last night /this morning will likely have caused it to relocate. Few grounded migrants today but visible passage of Bee-eaters, Turtle Dove, Flava’s & Swallows

Another great day’s birding. Sadly the Desert Warbler was not relocated however this was made up for by an excellent passage of Bee-eaters (405- a new record count for the headland) and Turtle Dove (420 - the best day count since 2006). Full details here: trektellen.nl/count/view/338…

A few raptors coming in off the sea at the lighthouse this morning: Pallid and Marsh Harriers as well as the first Honey-buzzard of the year. Also 9 Quail, all seen arriving in the space of 10 minutes

Another great day for visible migration, this time Harriers provided the main interest: 12 Marsh, 4 Pallid, 2 Montagu’s, 3 Pallid/Montagu's. Also of note were 11 Quail including one that flew in to the wall of the lighthouse & landed by two of the birding team, released unharmed

A Trumpeter Finch has been seen near the lighthouse this morning. It initially flew south but then returned north, so is likely to still be present. Finding it again though may be a challenge !! Presumably a product of the south-easterly winds early in the week Antikythera Bird Obs

It’s been a slow few days for migration, with limited new arrivals due to strong NE winds that have reached gale force at times. The most notable feature has been large arrivals of Bee-eaters with 201 yesterday & at least 359 today, many roosting on the headland overnight.

The view across Porto Kagio bay yesterday afternoon, the sky heavy with Saharan dust. The winds have changed overnight, with fresh North-westerly clearing away yesterday’s murk. The highlight so far today: a Common Snipe flushed near the lighthouse, the first record for Tenaro

A day of strong WNW winds made for challenging birding, a few birds arrived but overall numbers were down. Alongside the Blue-cheeked Bee-eater the highlights included a Nightjar at Swallow Hollow & the first Black-headed Bunting of the year singing at Koureli Antikythera Bird Obs

Last Day - today saw the end of regular recording for this spring. There were few new migrants present, only Hoopoe (8) & Golden Oriole (15), showed an increase. Full details of the birds we saw & ringed this year are now on Trektellen: trektellen.org/search?q=Tenaro
