Today, we met with the Neskantaga elders, and they reaffirmed the importance of protecting and preserving our rights, title, language, traditions, culture, lands, and rivers.

It's been a hard year for Neskantaga as we keep burying loved ones šŸ’” . We've lost 10 people since December. It's really hard for a small community under 500. 6/10 we lost are youth under very tragic circumstances. Pretty hard to grieve properly when it's one after another

Neskataga hunters in our homelands were bothered by a low flying helicopter that landed at a nearby lake scaring their moose away they were waiting for. This is what we mean when we say our rights and way of life is being threatened by mining and exploration activities.

Congratulations to Gary Quisess winning the election for Chief of Neskantaga First Nation. The people have spoken for change in leadership. I will take a few months off to rest and see what happens. Miigwech for those that voted and supported me.

NAN is deeply concerned by Premier Doug Ford’s recent comments regarding the acceleration of critical minerals development in Ontario’s Ring of Fire Region. NAN Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler released the following statement in response. Read full release here: nan.ca/news/sovereign…

Being ā€˜passionate’ doesn’t give you an excuse to express your racism. If and when Doug Ford is ready to personally apologize to the people of Nishnawbe Aski Nation, we will consider it. If the Premier is sincere with his apology, he needs to show it, not just say it.

I don’t believe the Premier’s apology was sincere for a second. He said what he said .. an apology is cheaper than the resources he wants extracted from the ROF. When I speak with passion, I mean it .. so does he …
