Green Party co-leader Jonathan Pedneault making a statement calling decision to kick Green out of debates anti-democratic. Call for debates commission to reverse positon.

Pedneault said the decision followed a campaign by the Bloc Québécois and “conservative commentators.” But the Greens didn’t manage to register the number of candidates required to take part.

I am saddened and disappointed to see Grigory Melkonyants convicted. Golos is a respected organisation that provides a rare independent voice on Russian elections; attacking it only weakens Russia. A truly strong society is open to diversity of opinions and debate.
