Those who truly know they have eternal life only because of the free, charitable grace of God will be charitable.

Because a fish absorbs oxygen from water, not air, it's free only if it's restricted to water. If a fish is ‘freed’ from the river & put out on the grass to explore, its freedom to move & soon live is destroyed. Real freedom isn't restrictionless, it's finding the right ones.

If you're pharisaical towards Pharisees, you're still a Pharisee.

It's remarkable that in all of his writings Paul’s prayers for his friends contain no appeals for changes in their circumstances.

Your life is not a series of random events. Your family background, education, and life experiences—even the most painful ones—all equip you to do some work that no one else can do (Eph 2.10).

Prayer is awe before an infinite force, and yet it's intimacy with a personal friend.

The only person whose opinion counts, the creator God of the universe, looks at me and he finds me more valuable than all the jewels in the earth. How can we worry about being snubbed now? How can we care that much about what we look like in the mirror?

Much of what God's doing in the world, He's doing in people's hearts. Be patient. It'll make sense later.

Our problem following Jesus is we're trying to be a better version of us, rather than a more accurate reflection of Him.

Religion: My identity is built on being a good person. Gospel: My identity is not built on my record or my performance but on Christ's.

The One who has called us is more powerful than all of the uncertainty we're facing.
