No brainer. The lions did this for their touring side. It was a ticketed event. Huge announcements, live player reactions on location at their homes, massive media coverage. This should 100% happen. Same for the Ashes at the end of the year as well.

Maybe SL will never achieve crowds like this… But you’ve got to ask… Why have the NRL been on a trajectory from averaging 15k to now averaging over 20k but SL has gone backwards/stayed fairly similar? There’s only two SL clubs who wouldn’t look out of place in the NRL.

Another interesting observation here… Of the teams on the right, 7 are clubs based in and around Sydney. Of the teams on the left, 6 are from outside of Sydney (the original RL heartland of Australia). Without expansion the NRL would likely be on a lesser trajectory…
