At our meeting yesterday Alan Wakefield, from the IWM, provided an enlightening talk titled 'Crisis at Kut, December 1915-April 1916'. The talk provided much needed exposure to the little known Mesopotamian theatre during World War One. #WW1

With the blessing of Rob's wife, we’ve commissioned a special 'one-off' magazine, available from The WFA website. It’s 68 pages long and highlights some of Rob's prodigious output, mainly around 'logistics'. bit.ly/3wj8uLK #WW1 #GreatWar #WW1History #WW1Research

Our latest Branch meeting saw David Blanchard present his research into 'The Casualty Evacuation Chain from Hill 60, Ypres, in early 1915'. An informative talk that linked many of the CWGC cemeteries to the various aid posts, dressing, and clearing stations used during #WW1.

Another well attended meeting saw Peter Hart deliver, in his renowned bouncy style, his talk covering the air war over the Somme in 1916. With insights aplenty and Peter's rendition of the Bovril advert made for a terrific evening.

Yesterday evening the Branch was fortunate to have Dr Michael LoCicero present his talk on perhaps one of the lesser known but highly successful German trench raids during WW1. The meeting was again well attended and it was good to welcome back WFA members not seen for some time.
