A new Branch record was set last night when 50 people turned out to listen to Ed Church's informative talk on the RAMC, and all things medical during WW1. His plethora of relevant artifacts attracted much interest from the audience during the refreshment interval. #ww1 #RAMC

The next meeting of the Cambs WFA will take place on Wednesday, 3 Apr 2024, at Great Stukeley Village Hall, Ermine Street, Great Stukeley, Huntingdon, PE28 4AQ. Alan Wakefield from the IWM will provide a talk entitled 'Crisis at Kut, December 1915-April 1916'

At our meeting yesterday Alan Wakefield, from the IWM, provided an enlightening talk titled 'Crisis at Kut, December 1915-April 1916'. The talk provided much needed exposure to the little known Mesopotamian theatre during World War One. #WW1

The next meeting of the branch will take place on Wed, 1 May 24, at Great Stukeley Village Hall, Ermine Street, Huntingdon, PE28 4AQ. David Blanchard ('Aisne 1918' published by Pen & Sword) will provide a talk on 'The Casualty Evacuation Chain from Hill 60, Ypres, in early 1915.'

Our latest Branch meeting saw David Blanchard present his research into 'The Casualty Evacuation Chain from Hill 60, Ypres, in early 1915'. An informative talk that linked many of the CWGC cemeteries to the various aid posts, dressing, and clearing stations used during #WW1.

Somme success: The RFC and the Battle of the Somme, 1916 by Peter Hart, the subject of the Branches' next meeting 5 Jun 24 Great Stukeley Village Hall, Huntingdon, PE28 4AQ. Peter Hart will discuss one of the great aerial battles played out during the summer and autumn of 1916.

Another well attended meeting saw Peter Hart deliver, in his renowned bouncy style, his talk covering the air war over the Somme in 1916. With insights aplenty and Peter's rendition of the Bovril advert made for a terrific evening.

'The Doughboys 1917-1918 - The American experience in WW1' by Mike Sheil. Is the subject of our next branch meeting and will take place on Wed, 3 Jul 2024, at Great Stukeley Village Hall, Ermine Street, Great Stukeley, Huntingdon, PE28 4AQ. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

Last night saw Mike Sheil deliver his talk on 'The Doughboys 1917-1918 - The American experience in WW1', a tour-de-force that told the story of the USAs entry and participation in WW1. #WW1

The perceived failure of Gough’s 5th Army against the German Spring Offensive of 1918 by Ian Langworthy is the subject of our next Branch meeting and will take place on Wednesday, 4 Sep 2024, at Great Stukeley Village Hall, Ermine Street, Great Stukeley, Huntingdon, PE28 4AQ.

Yesterday evening the Branch was fortunate to have Dr Michael LoCicero present his talk on perhaps one of the lesser known but highly successful German trench raids during WW1. The meeting was again well attended and it was good to welcome back WFA members not seen for some time.

‘Blue on Blue: The Story of Two WW1 Aces’ by Martyn Smith. The next meeting of the branch will take place on, 6 Nov 24, at Great Stukeley Village Hall, Ermine Street, PE28 4AQ. Martyn's talk relays the story of a RFC ace , shot down by a French ace in a blue on blue incident.

‘The Guards attack on Pilckem Ridge, July 1917’ by Dave Griffiths is the main subject of the branch's next meeting which will take place on Wed, 5 Mar 25, at Great Stukeley Village Hall, Ermine Street, Great Stukeley, Huntingdon, PE28 4AQ.

Our well attended meeting yesterday saw Dave Griffiths present a comprehensive and informative overview of his recent book "The Guards 1915-17 an elite division at war". Dave's presentation was preceeded by an update on the WFAs 'Trench Mapper' portal provided by Tim Slater.
