What a beautiful day for my first time at the Calgary Zoo so many animals with huge enclosures , and looked to be well taken care of, I definitely will be coming back when I visit Calgary again.
We have another lemur birthday to celebrate! Our black-and-white ruffed lemur mom βEnyβ is 5 today! π
Black-and-white ruffed lemur moms are pretty amazing β they build nests for their young that can be 10 to 20 metres off the ground! π€―

What is that smell? π
Our Horticulture team has been raising a stink - an Amorphophallus paeoniifolius!
Why the stink? To attract pollinators! This smell draws insects inside the inflorescence, which closes and traps them so that pollen can be transferred.

We have two Humboldt penguin hatchdays to celebrate! Yesterday our female βJuanitaβ turned 12, and our male βHoratioβ turns 16 today! π₯³
Humboldt penguins are named after the Humboldt Current which flows north along the western coast of South America. ππ§
