#GiffordFire Morning Update Aug. 7, 2025 Overnight winds exceeding 30 MPH for over an hour pushed the fire toward Huasna and Willis Ranch, with active spread between Pine Ridge and Haystack Canyon. This prompted new evacuation orders west of those areas in San Luis Obispo County.

Day 5 of NWS IMET Operations IMET dispatch on the #GiffordFire Hot/dry conditions today/Fri with high mixing heights. So, potential for significant plume-dominated fire behavior. Also, ridge winds are expected to be more southwesterly which is a direction not really seen so far.

#GiffordFire officials will host a community meeting in Santa Maria tonight, Aug. 7th, at 6 PM, to provide an update on the current situation and address questions. The meeting will be held at the Santa Barbara County Fire Station 23, 5003 Depot St., Santa Maria, CA 93454

#CanyonFire The fire is wrapping around the bottom on the SE side moving towards the #ValVerde area. Ventura County Fire is going into Unified Command with LACoFD now. Last image is looking from the southeast.

A Cal Fire Intel Flight has Mapped the #GiffordFire at 98,396 acres. Most of the Additional Growth is to the North within the Garcia Wilderness.

#CanyonFire Air Attack 07 has Requested Two Additional (LATS) Large Air Tankers.

#GiffordFire beginning to move into the Garcia Wilderness which does not have much, if any, recent fire history. So, there's likely plenty of "fuel" for the fire on the NW flank.
