Achieve equality and respect simply by saying pretty please? We can’t even get arrogant misogynist to step down despite entire world seeing him grab his crotch and molest a player.

Incredible it seems this may happen because Rubiales put his misogyny on such brazen display. If Spain can get entire player pool + youth players on board, like in 1999, it'll be powerful. Again, I tell that story in my book but hope Spain takes it further. RFEF is rotten.

Rubiales’ refusal to resign is horrifying. But it's worse to see the men in the room applaud him - and the leaders in this sport who are still silent

If we can't agree to punish sexual misconduct caught on video in front of millions, how can women anywhere in football feel safe?

If your reaction to the Spanish federation debacle or Infantino's tone deaf FIFA speech are 'Just have women's and men's football be run by separate federations' instead of 'Let's make sure federations aren't run by misogynist creeps' then you're telling on yourself, dude. 😬

3) Competitiveness. Contrary to my expectations. There was a 13-0 four years ago, so the shift from 24 to 32 teams seemed dangerous. But no, the gap between the favourites and the outsiders has decreased considerably. I enjoyed this from Caitlin Murray:

To the journalists and others who wore masks when they were sick or stayed at their hotels when sick during the Women's World Cup: thank you for being considerate. To the ones who didn't: you suck. 👍

The hows and whys of the gap closing in women's soccer, which we saw in this unpredictable and thrilling Women's World Cup: espn.com/soccer/story/_…

Given that he's been accused of abusive and toxic behavior, prompting 12 players to refuse Spanish national team call-ups, this is pretty gross. Shows a lot about the culture within RFEF.

When the whistle blew, I couldn't help but think of those players. My heart breaks for them

Honestly, now that Spain have won the Women's World Cup, now is the time for them to band together and really push their federation. They can take a page out of the 's book and what they did in 1999. It seriously would take a whole book to tell that story... I wrote it 😂

Spain are the new Women's World Cup champs. Truthfully, Spain looked like the far better team tonight, and other than Japan destroying them in the group, they looked like one of the best teams here. Japan deserves a consolation prize for crushing the eventual winner.
