Christopher Doyle Devin Dreeshen forgot how much of the expensive bits were dictated by the need to do nothing to inconvenience people in cars. We could make the Green Line cheaper if we go full War on Cars. The GL is expensive because cars are winning the war. x.com/kylegolsen/sta…

Just a reminder that Calgary already has LRT tunnels in it's downtown, with the intention of using them in the future. The argument that downtown can't support tunnels doesn't reflect reality. #yyc #yyccc #ableg Underground City Hall C-Train youtu.be/V7YBZvhVwgk?si… via YouTube

With $1.3 billion already spent, much of the site preparation, procurement and pre-construction activities for the Green Line had been completed or was in progress, including land acquisitions, excavations, utility replacements and building demolitions: calgaryherald.com/news/green-lin…

@Spencerfor12 Just remember the rumors that “There’s not going to be rioting in the north,” if we get shafted, have been greatly exaggerated… 😏

Yeesh, Danielle Smith wants a boondoggle to connect to a boondoggle in front of another boondoggle then privatize the east/west corridor for the UCP affiliate who wants to operate a line from boondoggle 2 to Banff. The other entity who plans to use CP lines is Liricon, which

How to say "I have no clue what people need from transit, but my buddies would like to go to the arena and drink, and not have to get an uber home" without saying it. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🙄😤

And for a transportation ministry that seems to think you can't tunnel downtown, because water, funny how building on a seasonal floodplain in the valley is A-Ok though...🤦‍♀️

So, here's the thing. While Danielle Smith says Green Line needs more oversight, the fact is the #greenlineyyc project team was meeting their provincial & federal counterparts on a regular basis so if the premier didn't know what was going on, it's cuz she never bothered to ask

1/This is a thread with facts on how the Green Line project was terminated by the Govt of Alberta on Sept 3. No attempt at a negotiation, just a letter pulling their support & funding. The impact is devastating. I’ll lay out how they are ignoring the facts & what it will cost us.

There’s the price tag on providing Devin Dreeshen with the opportunity to grandstand for a couple days about the “Nenshi nightmare” — gotta be one of the most expensive soundbites in Canadian politics in a long time

Comment on Budget 2024-Alberta is the least funded jurisdiction in Canada, and sure Budget 2024 had a 4.4 % increase but we needed a 13.5% to match the Canadian average. So the 125 mil announced this summer is a drop in the bucket of what is needed to fund our students. /5

In fact, Alberta provides the most public funding of private schools. More than anywhere in Canada at 70% (up from 50%). If the Premier wants to compare our system to others, then she needs to look at provinces who provide 0% funding as well. /9

There’s an awful lot of misinformation being spread about the Green Line, so let me lay things out clearly. I know a few critics of this project who could use a refresher.
