Extremely excited to announce the recipients of the 2025 FutureHouse Independent Postdoctoral Fellowship! You might already know of them or their work, these are some of the absolute best rising stars in biology research today. Through the fellowship, we will support them in

🚨ICML Paper Alert🚨 What if finding the right protein homologs wasn't a slow search, but a learned part of the model itself? We introduce 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫, an end-to-end framework that learns to retrieve the most useful homologs for self-supervised reconstruction! (1/12)

We automated systematic reviews using gpt-4.1 and o3-mini ! Our platform (otto-SR) beat humans at all tasks and conducted 12 years of systematic review research in just two days. We also show how otto-SR can be used in the real world to rapidly update clinical guidelines 🧵

Details and more results demonstrating scaling and on language in the paper, code for training classical and SCUD models on github! Great working with Nate Gruver and Andrew Gordon Wilson! 7/7 arXiv: arxiv.org/abs/2506.08316 Code: github.com/AlanNawzadAmin…

University budgets everywhere are getting slashed, and we hear many PhD students with accepted ICML papers can no longer afford to attend. We are stepping in to offer travel grants for researchers who lost funding. Sponsored by Pillar VC, Ormoni Bio, Latent Labs, and Cimulate

My friend Courtney Shearer has a spotlight talk at ICML and Harvard University halted all travel-related $$$. Travel grants promised to PhD students: gone. I asked Tony Kulesa if there was anything Pillar could do, one day later he posts this. F*cking awesome -- thank. you Pillar VC !!!!!

Good news. After 2 rounds of venetoclax, GO, + chemo, my daughter has had a complete response. No detectable signs of the tumor that had completely shut her eye, which she was dangerously close to losing. 🙏🏾 to the amazing team St. Jude & the community for helping us get here.

RNA, RNA, RNA biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Been a long time goal of Debora Marks.bsky.social to help RNA sequence —> function mapping a million years ago we tried sciencedirect.com/science/articl… Now total refresh for our new world, led by Rohit Arora and Murphy Angelo for seeing this

We can make population genetics studies more powerful by building priors of variant effect size from features like binding. But we’ve been stuck on linear models! We introduce DeepWAS to learn deep priors on millions of variants! #ICML2025 Andres Potapczynski, Andrew Gordon Wilson 1/7

Today marks my last day at Dyno Therapeutics, Inc.. The past three months have been a wonderful first experience in industry, and I’m so grateful for the knowledge I've gained and the support I've received. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone at Dyno, especially the ML

1/5 Biological data is noisy, redundant, and ever-growing. 🗣️ In our new paper (first paper of my post doc!! ⚡️), we track model performance across 14 years of UniRef100 snapshots to ask: how does pLM performance scale with training data?
