Nobel peace prize awarded to Japanese atomic bomb survivors’ group < This is great news, and an important reminder of the horrors of nuclear weapons. No more Hiroshimas. theguardian.com/world/2024/oct…

There are no words powerful enough to capture the agony of human beings being massacred & burned alive. The U.S. is funding & arming the Israeli military’s extermination of the Palestinian people. It’s unconscionable. End this genocide. There must be an #ArmsEmbargoNow

Insane to read this in The Times in October 2024. 14 years after the Bloody Sunday inquiry. Qualifying it with a single reference to the Savile Report - which debunks and refutes every single word of this account - as being "far more critical" does not cut it. This is outrageous.

Funny, I don't remember current or former Opposition leaders Sunak, Starmer, Corbyn, Miliband or Cameron being asked about how their role as a father distracted them from the job...

Was so excited to see Juno and the Paycock at the Gielgud - our only theatre trip this year. So awful that we left after the first act. Appalling Oirish accents, no understanding of the cadence or the context of the play, overacting from one lead and underacting from the other.

Just in: 110-year old Viola Ford Fletcher, the oldest survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre voted today in Oklahoma. I’m told she voted for Vice President Harris.

The amount of firework noise currently going on in Walthamstow is giving a (possibly) appropriately apocalyptic vibe to watching the coverage of the US election.

A key piece of legislation, the Finance Bill, has been passed by the Dáil this evening, paving the way for the Taoiseach to call an election by the end of the week. jrnl.ie/6533298t

Sky’s Anna Botting is doing a fantastic job anchoring the US election coverage. Enjoying watching her absolutely refuse to let people spread misinformation in interviews.

Late to this, but this is an excellent example of how a politician should communicate to constituents on a challenging issue. Thoughtful, respectful and kind. Fair play Laurence.

Keir Starmer speaks to Zelensky after todays explosive scenes. A No10 spox: “He retains unwavering support for Ukraine, and is doing all he can to find a path forward to a lasting peace based on sovereignty and security for Ukraine.”
