Check out our recent publication on how carrying loads on different parts of your body affects your energy expenditure and mechanics during walking! Christopher J. Arellano A low-cost method for carrying loads during human walking jeb.biologists.org/content/early/…
Congrats to my students Shernice A. Thomas & Daisey Vega on our recent paper accepted in Journal of Biomechanics! Key finding: arm swing helps reduce metabolic cost, but only at intermediate & fast walking speeds. First 50 downloads free via link: authors.elsevier.com/a/1cJgJ4-6-TpA… #biomechanics

Excited to share I’ve been awarded an U.S. National Science Foundation CAREER Grant for my proposal, “Understanding the Stabilizing Role of Muscle-Tendon Units in vivo.” This will support my lab’s work with Daisey Vega. Also includes support for STEAM education program w/ MECA Houston. HHP at UH University of Houston
My presentation at today's coaching conference co-hosted by Sports Company T&T and The UWI Mona - WJC's Faculty of Sport was a success, and I give all the glory to God!🙌🏾I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to share my knowledge on sport science to help our Caribbean athletes! #SportBiomechanics
Dynamic Walking 2021, Ep. 1: (Bio)Mechanics starts at 1:30 pm EDT!!! Check out Amir Patel, Chen Li, Tommaso Lenzi, Sasha Voloshina, Kota Takahashi, @JannekeSchwaner, Jenna Monroy, Christopher J. Arellano, Kiisa Nishikawa, @StevenHCollins, Sangbae Kim, and Gregory S. Sawicki live on YouTube
Tonight I'm going to present my poster in the Dynamic Walking. Together with Marco Hoozeman, @DieenJaap, Han Houdijk, and Sjoerd Bruijn, we did a meta-analysis on previously published studies on the effects of lateral stabilization on energy cost of walking.
#HTownSpeedCity has the 7 highest number of NCAA Preliminary Round qualifiers with 51.
For those registered for Canadian Society for Biomechanics , come check out our work #csb2021. Our preprint will hopefully be coming out in the very near future 🦿🥳
Congrats 🎉 to my PhD student Daisey Vega Daisey Vega whose 1st-author paper was just accepted to Journal of NeuroEngineering & Rehabilitation. Big thanks to the anonymous reviewers & Helen J. Huang who helped us think more deeply about our findings. #biomechanics The Science of Speed
