As a pediatrician, I feel that I should know the answer to this:  significant moral/ethical issues aside (and that’s a lot to set aside), is there evidence, absent a vaccine, of a wild-type virus ever leading to herd immunity?  /1

Doesn’t seem like that ever happened with smallpox, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, etc. Dr. Tom Frieden suggested as much in his piece today.

#mededchat Sorry, joining late. My angst about caps is for the less than stellar student. By definition, half of every class must be “below average.” How do we advise those students to optimize their applications? It’s not as if such students make poor residents.

This was a great team of collaborators. There are now recently published 2 EVU scoping reviews. The inclusion/exclusion criteria differ. What is clear is that EVU systems can be rolled out, but what’s missing are well-established processes to assess their impact.

Of course, we propose some guidelines to study an EVU roll out more formally.
