It was fantastic to see Farmer and Mrs West, plus their family & friends, plant so many hundreds of local provenance trees and wildflowers on Chalky Downs Campsite, at Upper Bevendean Farm, Brighton - today.

Fabulous to be involved with such a passionate team.

Special Branch tree nursery informed me that my good friend Lucy Williams had 50 hawthorn to donate to the Liz Williams (Lucy’s mother) Butterfly Haven. These were delivered and I planted them in the haven during my lunch break today. Thank you Lucy!

We’ve just observed two Dark Green Fritillaries on the Coldean Lane Wildflower Meadow. That takes our species count up to 24, about 65% of the total number of butterflies found in the Living Coast Biosphere Reserve. Not bad for a former lawn which is only the width of two houses.
