I personally prep in batches. Any new place they're going, I'll build the skeleton; Maps, NPCs, Encounters. Then I prep a little before each session. So I may be prepping for 2-3 days for the next leg of their journey, but when they arrive, the session prep ranges 15-30 minutes.
