Starting a thread on how to build a killer engineering team to support R&D and manufacturing. Will add to it over time. Let's dive in ⤵️

One of my friends just raised a pre-seed and left Anduril to start a new defense hardware company They are looking for precisely (1) employee $130k-$200k base + equity If you are a RF hardware engineer with experience designing SDRs this is a fantastic opportunity DMs open

It's amazing how hard it is to get people to understand just how broken the Primes and government procurement really is until they've done it themselves.

The fact is transformers aren't hard in and of themselves. The hurdle is customers, supply chain, and proving as a new player that your equipment has 30+ years of reliability if you want utilities as customers (who are ~80% of the market). There are ways to solve both of these

The craziest part is transformers are merely an excellent entry point for the entire grid equipment market. For a variety of reasons. Once you nail them, you can work on other equipment in the T&D chain, lean on ops and supply chain efficiencies, and absolutely build a new

Ben Rich would agree with me and surely understood there's a context to everything and how you design an attritable drone to manufacture at 10k+ a week rates requires a different approach than building 6 or 7 exquisite F117's a year

If you have a reoccurring failure to assemble similar features in multiple different products, from multiple vendors....I suggest you brush up on your gd&t and DfA, not blame your vendors

Classic newb RF mistake: choosing a capacitor without consideration of the SRF. Worst case? The SRF falls in your operating band, and you have a sort-of inductor, not a capacitor. Really, more of a frequency-dependent attenuator in your passband.
