Sidewalks used to be wider. It’s a fact that rarely gets acknowledged in discussions about road diets. Usually the road diet debate is framed as taking space AWAY from cars. Really it’s about giving it BACK to pedestrians. Here’s a good article about it tinyurl.com/2s4bzxw3

this is why adding an intellectual veneer to trumpism is dumb. “Immigrants are ruining the country” does not hold up to intellectual scrutiny so you end up with stuff like this. Maybe I’m wrong though and there is a silent majority mad about 1860s Irish immigrants

Buffalo has been called a “climate refuge,” meaning it may be safer than most from extreme climate change impacts. But even now, the city has areas where fewer trees & more concrete means much hotter temps. The thermal images show sunny Beverly Road next to shady St. James Place

It’s not just drunk driving. Motorist entitlement is insane. You think the car in front of you is going too slow so you FLOOR it around him without any regard to who might be there. I signal a lane change and you speed up to prevent me from doing so. All to what, send a message?

One of the infuriating parts of the Gaudreau tragedy is how incredibly banal the driver recklessness was. You see this kind of small ball driving idiocy all the time these days.

this story is so funny. The idea of some water authority executive from our backwards town at a climate change conference in Europe…just sort of nodding along for days on end, I’m sorry that’s very funny
