Honestly, who are these nutters?

If you or yours is unfortunate enough to have a major illness, do you want treated in a peripheral, understaffed hospital on your doorstep by 1 or 2 generalists, or by a team of specialists in a hub, 40 minutes away, with all the necessary resources?

Medics are increasingly specialised & want to work in teams to manage risk, not isolated in peripheral hospitals. Thats why peripheral hospitals stuggle to get clinicians. Robin knows this. Bengoa et al covered it. Thats why we need 4 specialist hubs, not 14 hospitals.

Translation: the problem is the £7billion a year I have currently isnt enough to deliver reform & not repeat not an inability to take necessary decisions because i cant explain it to the electorate & may lose votes.

Translation: moving from 14 generalist under staffed hospitals to 4 specialised well staffed centres is too unpopular so i will retain the current debacle.

Healthcare is about timely access to specialists, diagnosis & treatment, not square feet.
