Just some of the worst basketball you will ever see on an NBA court over the last two games for the Sixers. I don’t care that you’re missing guys, have some pride.

Textbook example here of the effort I talk about in the Sixers rebounding article. Josh Hart takes a shot with Barlow in a perfect position to box him out, but he just floats away towards the other end of the court because "Shot went up? Possession is over" and gives up an and-1.

This has actually been an issue SPECIFICALLY with Nick Nurse. The Sixers were a perfectly fine defensive rebounding team before Nurse was hired in the summer of 2023. His teams have never been good at defensive rebounding, going back to Toronto as well.

The Sixers absolutely suck in the third quarter. Horrible. Historically bad. Beckett Sanderson takes a deep dive on the numbers and tries to figure out... why? #Sixers | Adam Ksebe rightstorickysanchez.com/p/12-minutes-o…

“The difference between the Sixers at 30th and the Pacers at 29th (–8.8 net) is the same as the difference between the Pacers and the Blazers at 15th. They aren’t just last. They’re in their own universe of bad 3rd-quarter basketball, more than twice as bad as the nearest team.”

Tanking discourse is pushing people to radical solutions that should not be in consideration. The draft is for bad teams to get good players so they can become good again! There are some minor changes (pick protections) that could help, but by and large you can’t make an overhaul

I like some of these ideas, but we *have* to recognize that tanking is the symptom, not the problem. The actual problem: bad teams don't have that many ways to get better. No team *prefers* to just lose for months in front of empty stands. They're doing it because they have to.

"Floating in the back of my head the whole time will just be the conclusion that this isn’t a contender waiting to wake up. It’s a middle-of-the-pack team hoping for a miracle. And hoping for miracles isn’t a strategy." rightstorickysanchez.com/p/dont-fall-fo…

“To even hit the outlier outcome of success — 2% of all teams since 2000 from the numbers above — we need the corpse of Embiid to go on an unprecedented tear that will then live on in the annals of NBA history. That’s not a plan, that’s a prayer.”

Tyrese Maxey: "The trade deadline was difficult. It's life, but we've moved on from it. That's something that we have to put in the rearview mirror." "I don't think we're dwelling on it. Jared was a close friend of ours, a great teammate, a great person. So I definitely think

At this point it’s obvious that Morey is just completely incapable of thinking beyond “add a top 15 guy or bust”. At a time when roster depth is the biggest focal point in the league, we have a GM who can only star-hunt and head coach who can’t properly utilize a guy like McCain.

Okay I’m going to make one comment on the AJ stuff: The Eagles don’t want to trade AJ, they don’t have to trade AJ, and theres actually significant financial reasons for why they shouldn’t trade AJ. So like, if you’re gonna convince them to do it, yeah, it’s gonna take an overpay

“By spreading those odds across more teams, the league didn’t eliminate tanking; it just made tanking appealing to a larger portion of the standings.” Check out my Rights To Ricky Sanchez Podcast article on the NBA’s tanking debate and why it prioritizes the wrong things. rightstorickysanchez.com/p/is-tanking-r…
