The general surgery residency program had their end of year celebration dinner this past week. Dr. Rusty Milhoan was awarded the Faculty Member of the Year, voted on by the residents. Dr. Kavneet Kaur was awarded the Resident of the Year, voted on by the general surgery faculty.

Our new residents are staying busy during orientation with an engaging lesson on Infection Prevention and Control with our Infection Prevention Manager.

Program Director Dr. Ruiz lead a vascular anastomosis skills lab. A benefit of the program is that they cover the cost of a pair of Loupes for the residents to have at the beginning of their second year.

Our Ethicon rep dropped by with some tools for the residents. The interns got hands-on with bipolar and ultrasonic devices for dissecting tissue, learned how hemostasis products work, and practiced using different staplers to get the hang of each one. ✂️💉👍
