30 Apr 1778 West Point, NY. To keep the British from dividing the states, rebels chained the Hudson River from Constitution Island —almost a mile across. The chain was augmented by forts, warning towers, beacons & stakes set at the river bottom. #RevWar #History #AmRev

The Revolution had heroes many Americans know little about. History books often left them out. But their courage helped shape a nation. 📖 Read: Don Troiani’s Black Soldiers in America’s Wars, 1754–1865 pairs jaw-dropping art with historical depth—revealing the stories too

The first Mt. Tom summit house included observation decks, a restaurant, souvenir shop and a hall of mirrors. President William McKinley visited in 1899 and praised the beauty of the view. The next year the building burned to the ground, but a new one replaced it promptly.

Today in 1593 Christopher Marlowe was killed in a house in Deptford. I am delighted to reveal that SHAKESPEARE'S BORROWED FEATHERS, which explores Shakespeare and Marlowe's relationship, is published in paperback March 17 next year. amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/152617…
